Two Malaysians Bag Prestigious French Aeronautics And Space Award

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Two Malaysian engineers have been awarded the French Aeronautics and Space Industry Awards 2004 (FASIA 2004), for their outstanding achievement during a 15-month training stint at the Aeronautic and Space Institute (IAS) in Toulouse, France.

Mejar Ilime Ibrahim of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and
Aman Mohd Ihsan Mamat from MARA University of Technology (UiTM) received their awards together with 45 other engineers and managers from 22 countries on Sept 23 in a ceremony at the IAS campus.

Malaysian Ambassador to France, Datuk Hamidah Mohd Yusoff, Defence Attache Kapt Musa Omar, IAS Director General Herve Schwindenhammer and other key figures of the aerospace industries were among those present to witness the award presentation.

The Malaysian Embassy in France said in a statement Friday that Mejar Ilimie also holds a masters degree in Satellite-based Communication, Navigation and Surveillance, from the Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC) while
Aman Mohd Ihsan, a lecturer at UiTM, graduated with a Masters of Aeronautics and Space Engineering degree.

Created in 1998, the FASIA award is an international and prestigious award of the world aerospace sector given annually to future leaders for their exceptional professional engagement and merit, the statement added.
